How to apply 

The 2019 Summer School offers the program to violin students who are in AMEB grade 3 to A. Mus level or equivalent. Limited places are available to viola and cello students of equivalent level for the chamber music program. The day program include following activities:

• one hour of small group violin lesson taught by Prof Peter Shixiang Zhang and Janet Davies (on alternate day)
• one hour of Dalcroze Eurhythmics taught by Madeline Hagon (Saturday only) and Dr Sandra Nash
• one hour of chamber music coached by experienced music tutor
• one hour lunch concert (open to all string players) 
• two hours of masterclass conducted by Charmian Gadd, Robin Wilson and open rehearsal by the Orava Quartet

Acceptance to the summer school is based on video audition (you can submit online during registration or before the application closing date) and/ or letter of recommendation from the current teacher. Click here to download the teacher recommendation form. This is to ensure that students are placed appropriately for group class and in chamber music group. 

Non-refundable application fee $30 is payable when registering online. You may also choose the optional masterclass performance and private lessons (fee applies). The full fee will be payable upon the acceptance in early November.

NSW Regional Student Bursary 

AUSTA NSW has donated $1000 to assist regional AUSTA members who are current financial members of AUSTA to attend the Violin Summer School. The amount will be divided among violin summer school students at the discretion of AUSTA NSW. You can apply for this bursary while registering online and will be notified of the outcome of your bursary application along with the acceptance notice.
 

Victoria Student Bursary 

Up to five merit based 50% scholarships are available to Victoria based students, courtesy of an annonymouse Victorian donor. Proof of 5 years minimum residency in Victoria is required. After submit the online Summer School application with videos required, please email your residency proof and other supporting documents to info@zhangviolin.org.
